WINS CHIEF EVENTS.

ROCKBURN LANDS A DOUBLE. PETER McKINNEL ALSO IN THE BOOM. INCREASE £5358 IN TOTE RECEIPTS. The sport at meetings staged by the Auckland Trotting Club is always gopd and so it wa3 at the meeting which was brought to a close yesterday. A better '•lass all round has been seen at Alexandra Park, but even so the horses racing at the meeting were, with few exeep- ! tions, proved performers. Mr. H. F. ] Jsicoil's gelding Wrackler won the chief j event each day in easy fashion, and proved himself a real good one. There were no very big prices returned and backers generally found the winner in three. The totalisator put through yesterday £43,233, against £37,583 on the second day of the spring meeting last year. For the meeting the sum handled was £7S,7SS 10/, against £73,430, an increase of £5358 10/ over last year. The sport passed off smoothly, while the arrangements in the hands of the secretary, Mr. A. G. Mabee, were all that could be desired. Wrackler Again. All started in the Alexandra Handicap, for which Wrackler found most support with £1702, while Linkman ( £1340) and Jean McElwyn ( £1264) carried good support. At the start Native Prince and The Abbey both broke badly, and spoilt any chance they may have possessed. Jean McElwyn was the first to show out, closely followed by Gold Dial, Great Delight, Wrackler, Torpedo Huon and Linkman. Passing the stand the second time the field were all in a bunch, Jean McElwyn being a shade in front. Going along the back Jean McElwyn was still "piloting the field, but there was only three lengths between the field, with the exception of The Abbey and Native Prince, who were tailed off. Wrackler was first to turn for home from Torpedo Huon, Jean McElwyn and Linkman. Wrackler went on to win comfortably by one and a half lengths from Linkman, who beat Torpedo Huon by two lengths. Gold Dial was foui th, the next to finish being Jean McElwyn, Great Delight and Native Prince. The Abbey was pulled up. Warm Favourite Downed. Reremai was withdrawn from the Junction Handicap. Sunshower was made a warm favourite, £1270 being invested' on his chance, Hal Chimes (£878) -being next in request, while Rockburn carried £607. Passing the stand Warplane was piloting the field from Lord Nepean, Sunshower and Hal Chimes, with Explosion last. Coming in the straight Hall Chimes had run to the front and led past- the stand from Sunshower, Evelyn Locanda, Explosion (who made up ground fast) and Warplane, the last three being bunched.

Hal Chimes broke going along the back, ] leaving Sunshower in front. Rockburu led into the straight well clear of Sunshower, the first-named going on to win by two lengths, with Explosion half a length away. Concertina was fourth, followed by Evelyn Locanda and Warplaae. Peter McKinney's Double Win. Ten horses went to the post for the Hillsboro' Handicap, Tiger Salve being elected favourite with Raima ( £965) and the Peter McKinney-Bingen Starr bracket ( £943) next nn order. When the stand was reached Etta Cole was leadei from Gold Sovereign, Bingen Starr, Peter McKinney and Tradesmen, the latter having broken at the start. Gold Sovereign and 'Etta Cole were togethei when they readied the stand, the second time, with Peter McKinney and Bingen Starr in close attendance. Peter McKinney ran past Etta Cole going, across the top and led into the straight from Etta Cole and Tradesman. Peter McKinney did, best in the run home and went on to win by half a length, Tradeo J man being three lengths away. Raima was fourth, with Tiger Salve and Si&tei Beatrice following. The Big Sprint; - Wrackler failed to line up in the Campbell Handicap, and betting took a wide range, the favourites being un fish ( £940), Nelson Tasker ( and Stanmoor (£690). The Abbey refused to leave the mark and took no part in the race.. Oakhampton was the ea. er when they settled down from Gold Dial, Goldman and Sunfish. Passing the 6 an the field-were all bunched, Oakhampton beinc just in front of'Sunfish, with i lon Huon, Gold Dial and All Bell all in line next. When they reached the back Goldman broke 'and interfered with Carmel, both horses being pulled up. Dillon Huon was well clear wheii thej came into the straight, but tired badly, and Nelson Tasker, finishing well, beat him home by? two lengths, Stanmooi being a neck away third. Tmpe o finished fourth, then-coming Sunfish, Joy Bird and Oakhampton,

Surprise, in Remuera. All started in the Remuera Handicap, and when the public got to ; work they made Enawah favourite with £UM, Jackie Logan (£957) :and Limosa (i< ) being second and third fancies. Polly.s Picture and Salient broke up at t-Jie start, the first-named losing a lot oi ground. When they reached the stand Warspite was well clear ox Enawah, Sailor Boy, Lady Barrington, Bolfe Audubon and Hoboro. When they Teaehed the top Enawah had joineci. Limosa in the lead, and the pair ec from Lady Barrington, Jackie Logan, and Peter Pirate. The order was practically unchanged when they turne into the straight, but in £he run home Peter Pirate finished fast and went on to win comfortably by a length and a half, Jackie Logan being three le:' ; Ui s behind Limosa. \ Then camo L' :c y Barring*«n, Enawah, Kelp and Pollys Picture.

Sunshower Backed Again and Beaten. Vendome, Evelyn Locanda and Sunfish were tbj defections in the Insulation Handicap. Sunshower was first choice "with the public, carrying £975, the winner, Rockburn, having £722 invested on him. Sunshower stood on the mark and was last to leave. Florent assumed command and led past the stand several lengths clear of Van Rich, Lord Nepean, Mountain Dell and Great Delight, with the favourite still last. Along the back Florent was' still in front from Van Rich and Lord Nepean, with seA'eral

others close up. In a great finish Rockburn prevailed by a nose, with another nose separating Hal Chimes and Florent. Then in line came Great Delight and Sunshower.
