SKETCH CLUB EXHIBITION.
The exhibition which is being held in the Gallery, Kitchener Street, should bo of great interest to the Auckland public. The walls are covered with different views of Auckland and its beautiful surroundings. There are portraits, two by Miss Ida Carey, which especially attract attention, as does the well-drawn and delicate pencil studies by Mrs. Jackson and Mrs. Gash, and some good pen and ink cartoons by Sir. Wadham, who has a clean and decisive touch in this medium. The sales during the week includo a "Mountain Path" in pastel, by Mrs. Gash: "Howe Street," by Sirs. Ella Spiccr.
MR. J. W. ROSS. A well-known Auckland resident for over 40 years, Mr. John William Ross, of the firm of Wilkinson and Ross, engineers, was interred on Octobcr 27, at Purewa Cemetery, the Rev. Canon Haselden conducting the funeral service. Mr. Ross died suddenly during the night at his home, College Hill. He was 62 years of age, and a life member of the Power Boat Association. At one time Mr. Ross was official starter for the Auckland Anniversary Regattas. He was also president of the Newton Rugby League Club, and a trustee of Carlaw Park. He is survived by his wife, one son, Mr. Barton Ross, and two daughters.
