"The spectacle of a public body pandering to the superstition of the Dark Ages is to be seen in the Ngaio and Khandallah areas of this city, where the numbering of the houses has been completed," writes a Wellington correspondent. "In several streets, and I have no doubt it is the rule, the number 13 has been omitted, 15 following on 11. Whoever is responsible for this is, I have no doubt, a firm believer in spooks, witches, banshees, the evil eye, love potions, etc"
