POPULAR GIRL CONTEST.
RESULT AT DARGAVILLE. (Prom Our Own Correspondent.) DARGAVILLE, this day. The popular girl contest held in conjunction with the annual bazaar, under the auspices of the Sacred Heart Church, which took place in the Theatre Royal, Dargaville, on Saturday, made the function a most successful and interesting one. Those chosen to compete were of school age, and the honours of victory went to Marie Anderson, of Dargaville. /The voting resulted:— Marie Anderson 10,997 Ivy Dooley 8,926 Nancy Langton 8,370 Just over £400 was realised. From the opening hour, 10 a.m., until midnight the various stalls had a busy time, whilst the sideshows attracted much attention. The Rev. Fathers Westeinde, Bruning and Mr. J. P. Stanaway attended to the drawing of the various art unions and the counting of votes in connection with the popular girl contest.
