After a lecture by Dr. C. E. Adams on "Earthquakes," one of his audience wished to know why the North Island and the upper part of the South Island experienced earthquakes, whereas in the lower part of the South Island these distiirbances were extremely rare. "I don't see why Dunedon should get off Scot free/' lie jaid.
