« TAURANGA REGATTA CLUB. THE ANNUAL MEETING. (From Our Own Correspondent.) TAURANGA, Saturday. The annual meeting of the Tauranga Regatta Club was held to-night. In the absence of the president (Mr. B. C. Robbins) Mr. G. Maltby presided. The treasurer submitted the report and balance sheet, which showed a credit of £151 11/3. The secretary stated that, owing to the unfavourable weather on last regatta flay the club had made a slight loss, but with the improved transport and given a fine day the present year's fixture should prove a great success. He had interviewed the Railway Department, and they had agreed to run excursion trains from Hamilton and Taneatua at very reasonable fares. The following officers were elected : Patron, Mr. C. E. Macmillan, M.P.; vice-pat-ron, Mr. W. S. Harris; president. Mr. J. M. Daines; vice-presidents. Messrs. C. M. Clench, P. S. Densem, G. E. Maltby, G. S. Butler, W. F. Sinclair, and Leu Morris: secretary and treasurer, Mr. C. T. Clinkaid; assistant secretary and treasurer, Mr. P. S. Densem; honorary auditor, Mr. XL J. Baigent; general committee, Messrs. J. A. O'Neil, F. Warner, C. F. Oliver, R. J. Goulding, A. A. Stewart, C. E. Keane. I/. Green. 11. Bickers, D. V. Hanna, P. Thomson, \V. Turner, R. R. Handle. T. A. Dickson. A. Gifford, and J. R. Wales. The matter of a two days' regatta was discussed, and it was resolved to set up a special committee to go into the matter and report to the next meeting of the' committee. A letter was received from Mr. C. G. Blackwell, honorary secretary of the Takapuna Boating Club, regarding the Cornwell interport championship. He stated that, as winners of the last year's contest, the committee of the Takapuna Club was considering the next year's races, which may commence at the end of January, but not later than the end of February. While they were prepared to hold the contest in Auckland, the committee had decided, in the best interests: of the class, to offer to defend the cup in any port in New Zealand. It was decided to reply that the Tauranga Club could not see its way clear to undertake the holding of the championship.
