A RECORD DISPUTED.
ENDURANCE CLUB- SWINGING
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
NAPIER," Sunday
Charles Buekett's club-swinging effort of 72 hours 45 minutes which ended at Christchurch on Friday is far from a world's record as has been claimed. At midnight on New Year's Eve, 1913, Captain T. B. Bax, at Napier, completed 146J hours continuous This constituted a world's record, th> previous best being 144 hours put up bv Dobrelli, of Queensland. BaX used twopound clubs, the recognised standard weight for endurance swinging in which a stipulated number of revolutions a minute has to be maintained throughout the full period of the lest. Captain Bax, who is in his 70th year and lives in Napier, finished in good condition in spite of the loss of sleep, and he had a swim at seven o'clock the next morning. It may be that Buckett's .effort at Christchurch constitutes a record for six-pound clubs, but it is certainly far from a record in recognised eiwj-irtMe cJu'j-swi) , 'jing. l£^K%
