MOTOR VAN WRECKED.

TWO CHINESE INJURED. CONDITION OF ONE SERIOUS. A motor delivery van, travelling at high speed, crashed into a tramway pole in Remuera, near Westbourne Road, early this afternoon. The van was wrecked, vegetables and fruit were strewn over the roadway, and two Chinese were extricated from the debris and taken to the Auckland Hospital. It was found that one of them, Wai Pai, aged 28,' was not seriously hurt, but his companion, Puh Fong, was seriously injured. According to a bystander, one of the Chinamen's hats blew off, and next moment the van swerved into the post, striking it with sufficient force to crack it. The body of the van was ripped off, and the contents were sent flying far and wide. One wheel was torn off, and the radiator crushed. The impact hurled one Clunaman on to the concrete road. A crowd, including passing motorists gathered. The van was owned by N. Fong Kec, of Remuera. COLLISION AT MERCER.

TWO CARS BADLY DAMAGED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) MERCER, this day. A collision between a taxi car and a privately owned motor occurred shortly before midnight on Saturday on the long stretch of straight road alongside the Mercer railway station. Mr. Nixon, of Pokeno, was driving the taxi. The car was owned by Mr. Gardiner, of Taniwha, and driven by a woman. The taxi had its right front wheel smashed; and it was hurled agaimt the wire fence protecting the railway line. Mr. Gardiner's car, with damaged mudguards and run-ning-board, plunged over the steep bank into the swamp, and came >to rest amongst the sawdust and slush.

The occupants of both cars escaped without injury.

A passing lorry rescued the car from the swamp, and it was towed to Mercer, but the taxi had to await the services of a wrecking service on Sunday morning. PEDESTRIAN KNOCKED DOWN (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON,''Sunday. Oscar Laysen, aged 57-years, was knocked dowu by .<a service car driven by Mr. N. D. Robertson, of Hamilton, on the Cambridge Road at Taniahere - yesterday afternoon. Mr. Robertson was driving a Y.M.C.A. team to Cambridge, when Mr. Laysen stepped out from behind a lorry. His right leg and several ribs were broken, and he received other injuries. He was removed to the Waikata Hospital.

MOTOR CYCLIST KILLED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GORE, this day. William Argyle, aged 23, was motorcycling at Maitland when he crashed into a car driven by George Smaill, of Maitland. Argyle was thrown heavily, and succumbed to head injuries later in the Gore Hospital. He was an unmarried man.

CYCLIST SERIOUSLY HURT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHKISTCHURCH, this day. Gilbert Burke, a young man, was motor-cycling yesterday when he collided with a motor car in the city. He received injuries to his neck and shock. He was sent to the hospital, and his condition is serious.
