ACCOSTED MAN IN STEEET,
Henry Charles Sydney Kevey (3S), a big, burly man, while admitting that lie was idle, denied the other portion of the charge brought against him at the Police Court to-day, that he was disorderly and begged alms in Customs Street. Sub-Inspector McCarthy said Kevey accosted a man in Customs' Street shortly •after 6 o'clock last night and asked him for 5/. Kevey was very insistent, even when the man said he could not sive him so_ much. Kevey then said he was "Keenan, the boxer." The passer-by was frightened and gave Kevey 9d, afterwards complaining to the police about him. After evidence of the passer-by and a constable had been given, accused said he did not remember anything about the matter. On Mr. Hunt deciding to convict accused, the sub-inspector said Kevey had 27 previous convictions for various ofTen'-ps. "Well, ]ie'g got 2S now." said Mr. Hunt, who sent Kevey to gaol for three months.
