TRAVELLING OFFICE.
FOR MANAGER OF RAILWAYS.
The new travelling office which is being built, for the General Manager of Railways (Mr. H. H. Sterling) is now approaching completion at the Addington Workshops (states the "Christehurch Times"). Similar in lines to the car which was built for the Duke of York and is now used as. a Ministerial car, the new vehicle will be a handsome addition to the rolling stock of the Railway Department.
All possible refinements are being incorporated in the new car. Sleeping accommodation for the General Manager and his private secretary, an office, for the secretary, and a saloon office, that will be large enough for Mr. Sterling to meet deputations in, are the main features of the vehicle. The coachwork is of steel plates, similar to those in the Ministerial car, while the interior fittings will be of a standard much in advance of any found in ordinary iirst-class coaches.
