YOUNG PLAN.
Monarchists' Latest Throw Against German Republic. DEMANDING REFERENDUM. (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) (Received 1 p.m.) BERLIN, October 16. The Monarchists' latest throw against the Republic began to-day with an attempt to get, before October 29, the statutory 4,000,000 signatures to demand a referendum on the Young plan. All the Government leaders prepared a manifesto appealing to the people to ignore the petitions. President von Hindenburg has found it necessary to protest against the use of his name on Monarchist circulars. If the petitions are adequately signed there will be a referendum in which 50 per cent of the electors must vote solidly to ensure the rejection of the plan.
