BUS PETITIONS.

The report of the Petitions Committee of the House on the various bus petitions gives food for reflection. Some are favourably recommended and some are not and the reasons for differentiation are not particularly apparent. The remark of Mr. Fraser, M.P., that in certain circumstances "the House would he inundated with similar petitions" possibly throws some- light on the findings. Does Mr. Fraser seriously contend that the hasty and unjust legislation passed by the last Parliament financially injured so many people that the country cannot attempt to make some reparation to those who lost their all? If so, it is about the most damning indictment of Wβ bus legislation (and incidentally Mr. Fraser s own party) yet published. JUSTICE.
