WALKER WANTS ALLEY.

George Walker, heavy-weight champion of Canada, writes:—"l think lam within my rights in seeking publicity through your paper. Since arriving in Auckland nearly four weeks ago I have had but one match. After wrestling a draw with Eklund I informed the New Zealand Wrestling Association that I ! was willing to wrestle anyone the association liked to put up against me and made no conditions whatever. During the last week much talk, has been heard of a match between myself and Tom Alley but so far nothing definite has been fixed up and I am as far away as ever. Before the Alley-Singh match on Monday last I went into the ring to challenge the winner. Alley won and I consider that I am now entitled to meet him. Alley has won all the six matches he has had in New Zealand and is therefore entitled to consider himself the champion of the wrestlers in New Zealand. If he is champion surely there is no reason why he should not meet me. Although lam the heavyweight champion of Canada my weight is only about 13.3 wnile Alley on Monday last weighed in at 13.0. This difference counts for. nothing. , Alley, however, wants me to make 12.10. Why? In his other matches Alley has not asked his opponents to make weight. I am prepared to.back myself with anything up to £100. And this goes for Alley, Eklund, Vance, or any other of the wrestlers now in New Zealand: The New Zealand Association is willing 'and anxious to stage a match between Alley" and myself on Monday week. What has Alley got to say about it?"
