LINKMAN IN GOOD FETTLE. i■ " ' ! N.Z. CIJP POSSIBILITY. i NEW TREATMENT FOR AWAY. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") CHRISTCHUKCH, this day. The Trotting Cup candidate Linkman is going on smoothly in Ms preparation. He is in great fettle at present, and if he continues in the same happy state he is going to get some of the money in the big race. Ariki id now being trained by G. Caddy at New Briguton. The pacer looks" well, and he may race satisfactorily. ■ J. N. Clarke is working a two-year-old colt by Guy Parrish from a inare by breat Auuubon. The youngster allows a lot of quality, and goes at the trotting gait. Myrtle Dillon, who is by Author Dillon from Myrtle Wood —the dam of Logan wood —is in work again at New Brighton. She is now trained by D. M. Robertson. The trotter Accumulator is now being trained by J. Washington. Accumulator has a good deal of speed, but he does not always go away right, nor does he keep steadily to his gait in a race. He may do better with more racing. D. M. Kobertson is working a four-year-old mare by Drusus from Becky M. She has not been long in work, and already she shows a fair amount of speed. The pacer Away is back in A. G. Wilson's charge. Away was trained by E. C. McDermott, and just when he was coming to his best speed—having qualified for the New Zealand Cup—he broke down badly in his preparation, and had to be given a long spell. Since then he has been trained more than once, but iias quite failed to come back to his best form. Some time ago he went into A. G. Wilson's stable, where it was hoped the softer track at New Brighton—assisted by the beach and salt water—would effect a cure, but on leaving there and returning to McDermott's charge the pacer failed to stand up. Away was one of the most promising of pacers prior to his breakdown, as he had both speed and stamina, and he was improving all the time. It is to be honed that the treatment he is to recfivo will be satisfactory, and that he will be seen in his best form with the colours up later in the season.
