V.A.T.C. MEETING. TAISHO'S POWER STAKES. NEW ZEALANDERS PRESENT AT CAULFIELD. MELBOURNE, October 16. The Victoria Amateur Turf Club's meeting was continued to-day in ideal spring weather, and there was a large attendance at Caulfield, several New Zealanders being present. ; In the decision of the Emo Hurdle Kace ■ Kendler registered a good performance, winning in good style In a fast run race. He is trained by the New Zealander, Stan Keid. There was an exciting finish for the Nursery Handicap between First Legion and Devious, the race being won in the last few strides. The winner cost 300gs as a yearling. The Caulfield- Cup candidate Taisho had a comfortable vict--y in the Herbert Power Stakes, the time being only half a second off the course record for the distance. Glenanton was prominent all the way in the Moonga Handicap and won narrowly from last year's winner, Aga Khan. Prince Viol won the Ccongy Handicap ea?ily. Second Wind finished well and enhanced his Melbourne Cup prospects. Versatile was third early in the Moora Welter, and finished well." El Eey, who finished second, is engaged in the" CaulfinJd Cup.
