Ilauraki Mines Consolidated, Limited.— '■ The manager reports as follows as per telegrain oil Bth hist.: 101b of specimen stone was selected from the hangingwall portion of the Stockwood reef in stopes above the 400t't level. The same class of stone has been left .showing in the face of the stope; (his is iu the solid reef on the hangingwall. No quartz has been broken since in this stope, but stripping operations are again In progress and breaking down will take place tills week. Strong blotches of gold have been selected from the stope ahead of this one, also pieces of rich stone from Ihe liangingwnll pug formation in the seaward stope in breaking away from the block rise.
Waionio Sulphide.—A crosscut west has becii projected to intersect the main section of the'Zechan lode at a point 145 ft north of No. 2. rise and is out. 30ft. The reef should bo exposed in a further ten feet. The drive on Birthday reef has been exlended 57ft, total 73ft, in payable"ore for width of thirty inches. -.Stoping is proceeding north and south of the rise to intermediate level in high grade ore. On the surface eastward of the main workings a now reef eight feet In width has boon discovered. Encouraging results have been obtained and further work during the next fortnight will enable an estimate of its importance to be ascertained. The construction of the aerial tramway is being expedited. The installation of the oil flotation plant is in hand, and the construction of the mill is well advanced.
Ohinemuri.-—North section, No. 4 level : The drive south,of the Camoola lode has been extended' 36ft, total distance 418 ft from No. 1 winze. The ore, which had been of low grade, has improved iu value. The crosscut to the Julia reef is out 153 ft, and should intersect its objective in a few days. The drive south of Silver Queen branch is out 28ft iu payable ore. Preparations tor sfoping in this" section arc well in hand, ami the mi)] hoppers are filler! in readiness for commencement of crushing, At Xo. ?, level tlie soulh drive on Camoola lode is south of main rise. Sulphide veins are making in this face. Portion of the milling and cyanide plant was given a preliminary,run on the 14th instant, and the whole of the plant will be available for regular crushing by ISth- instant.,., .-.. .. ? . . . ■ i
