. FAT PIGS SELL WELL. (By Telegraph.—l'rcss Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. There were good yardings in all divisions at the Addington market to-day. Beef prices remained firm, except for extra heavy sorte. Fat sheep showed a decline on last week's rates, but prices for fat pigs, especially for porkers, showed a substantial increase. Store Sheep.—The was the largest for many weeks, and prices remained firm. Values were: Extra good halfbred ewe hoggets, 34/6 to 37/; good halfbred wether hoggets, 24/ to 25/7; good crossbred ewe hoggets, to 29/; good crossbred wether hoggets, to 23/3; aged and f.m. halfbrec ewee and lambs, 11/ to 16/6; f.m. crossbred ewes and lambs, to 15/; two-toothed halfbred wethers, to 24/4; four, six and eightto&thed halfbred wethers, 22/ to 24/; four, six and eight-toothed Corriedale wethers, 24/ to 26/; good Merino wethers, to 16/3. Spring Lambs.—The quality was good, but,there was a short entry, and prices were firmer. The top price was 43/4. Fat Sheep.—A larger entry and prices were down 1/ to 1/6 on last week on an average over an irregular sale. Extra heavy prime wethers made up to 52/iO; prime heavy, 39/6 to 46/; medium-weight prime, 35/ to 3,9/; ordinary, 31/ to 34/6; light, 21/ to 29/6; extra prime ewes, to 46/10; prime, 34/ to 38/; medium, 27/ to 33/; light, 22/ to 26/; good hoggets, to 32/10; ordinary, 23/ to 27/; good shorn wethers, to 36/10; ordinary shorn, 23/ to 28/; prime shorn ewes, 26/4 to 33/7. Fat Cattle.—The entry was 330 head, with the average quality the best for many weeks. The market was very firm for all prime and medium-weight beef, though extra heavy steers and cows showed a slight easing. Good prime steer and heifer beef made from 54/ to 57/ per lOOlb, and in cases up to 59/; heavy steers, 47/ to 51/ per 1001b; medium quality, 48/ to 52/; best cows, 50/ to 54/; secondary, 40/ to 46/. Fat Pigs.—Baconers and porkers were in short supply. There was a keen demand, and prices advanced. Choppers made. £3 to £7 6/; baconers, £3 17/6 to £5 18/6 (average price per lb, 7%d to 8d); porkers, 47/ to 80/ (average price per lb, 9%d to lid).
