The 74 spring lambs penned were of good quality. There was a keen demand, with a sharp rise in ' values. Extra heavy prime lambs made £1 16/ to £1 17/9, the latter price for lambs from Mr. Noel Litchfield, Patumahoe, bought by the Auckland Meat Company, Ltd.; a line of 27 lambs from Mr. N. Litchfield averaged £1 16/10; heavy prime lambs,' £1 13/ to £] 15/6; lighter prime* £1 8/9 to £1 12/6. Our calf pens were again well filled. Prime vealers sold at late rates, but values for all bucket-fed and small calves were lower. Heavy runners made £6 8/ to £9 17/6; two prime Hereford heifers from Mr. H. A. Swafh'eld, Papatoetoe, realised £9 7/ and £9 17/, being purchased by Mr. John Rowe, Newmarket, and Mr. A. W. Scotting, St. Helier's Bay; heavy prime vealers made £4 15/ to £5 6/; medium, £4 4/ to £4 8/; light, £3 to £3 11/; small vealers, £2 4/ to £2 12/; good bucket-fed calves, £1 13/ to £1 18/; rough and unfinished, 19/ to £1 7/; fresh-dropped and small, 3/ to 15/ (239 calves sold). i average yarding of fat pigs. There was keen bidding for all classes, values for baconers being very firm, with prices for porkers showing an increase.
