POWERS' CONFERENCE Jjfc Five To Discuss Armaments Reduction. SIGNIFICANCE OF MEETING. (British Official Wireless.) (Received 12 noon.) RUGBY, October 15. Referring to the Prime Minister's • + 0 the United States, the First of the Admiralty, Mr. A. V. Alexander, at Newcastle last night said that if the feeling got abroad 'hat the Anglo-American agreement for the purpose of imposing their will upon any other part of the TV-orld it would be extremely unfortunate. That was why, before any definite move was made in the matter, there should be a naval conference of the five leading Powers. Whatever was done in the direction of agreements to consolidate peace and limit the offensive nature of armaments should be done in such 8 way as not to give offence to any nation of the v\oild. The Italian Ambassador in London to dav delivered his Government's acceptance of the British Government's invitation to the five-Power naval conference to be held in London m January. The Italian Government says that it desires, as always, to co-operate in any effort to limit armaments, and hopes that the British initiative may result in real progress to the solution of the general disarmament problem. The Italian Government awaits communication of the views of the British Government regarding the questions to be discussed at the conference and will make known, in turn, its own view on the subject. Mac Donald's Farewell. Mr. Ramsay Mac Donald spent last n i<rht at Niagara, and this morning crossed the border into Canada and took the train for Toronto. Before leaving American territory he issued the following message' of farewell to the American people:—"ln welcoming me you have hailed the object of my and cheered the message of good wilk I brought from His Majesty the King, and from all sections in Great Britain. Your President and I have been privileged to discuss in a spirit of democracy and frankness, the relations of our two countries and the promotion of world peace.
