BOXING.
NORWEGIAN AMATEUR CHAMPION. SURGEON ON WHALER. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. In Dr. Sverre Sorsdal, the company of the whaling Bhip C. A. Larsen, now in port, has the amateur heavy-weight boxing champion of Norway. Dr. Sorsdal, who is surgeon of the whaler, represented his country at the Olympic Games in 1920, 1924 and 1928—a splendid record. He was runner-up for the world's light heavy-weight championship in 1920, and qualified for the semifinals of that class in 1924. A graduate of the Oslo University, Dr. Sorsdal completed his examinations in 1927. During the voyage of the C. A. Lareen to Wellington he acted as athletics instructor to the crew.
