BEEF IN GOOD DEMAND.

SHORN WETHERS TO 27/.

Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their usual weekly t:ock sale at Frankton saleyards on Tuesday, October 15, as under:— There was an average yarding of beef, which met with a good demand at late market rates. Choice ox sold at equal to 40/ per 1001b. Ordinary quality cow beef ruled at about 36/ to 38/ per 1001b. Inferior fat cows and heifers sold at £6 15/ to £9 2/6. Very light heifers, £5 5/ to £6 10/. Small vealers, 23/. "There was a fair yarding of store cattle, which sold at full late rates. Store cows sold at from £6 15/ to £8 5/; two-year Shorthorn heifers, low condition, £5 6/; good quality, well-grown yearling heifers sold at up to £65/; Jersey cross yearlings, £5 12/; Shorthorn yearling heifers, £3 10/. There was a moderate yarding of fat sheep. Best shorn wethers sold at up to 27/; forward four and six-tooth shorn wethers, 25/6; shorn woolly ewes, 19/. There was a large yarding of both fat and store pigs. Baconers were easier, while porkers advanced. Large stores were in demand, and weaners easier. Best baconers made from £4 4/ to £4 10/; medium, £3 10/ to £3 15/; light baconers and heavy porkers, £2.18/ to £3 6/; medium porkers, £2 10/ to £2 15/; light, £2 2/ to £2 12/; large-framed stores, £1 16/ to £2 5/; slips, £1 10/ to £1 13/; best weaners, £1 2/ to £1 7/; ordinary, 18/ to £1.
