ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.

PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES.

ELECTRIC SOCCER AND

HOCKEY.

BLANDFORD PARK TO-NIGHT.

At the meeting of the Control Board of the A.F.A. last night arrangements were finalised for the floodlight attraction to-night for Blandford Park, when, after the hockey match St. Luke's v. Somervillo and the Soccer Thistle Cup final tie, Thistle v. Manurewa, the trophies won during the season will be presented. The hockey match will commence at 7 p.m. and the Soccer cup tie at 8 o'clock.

The matches for Saturday will be the winding up of the third and fourth grade competitions, which will be played at Blandford Park.

The question of the liability for ground fees caused a lengthy discussion. It was revealed by the Ponsonby Club that its players had had to pay a considerable amount of money for fees for grounds that they had been prevented from playing on because of the nonappearance of a referee or an team, and objection was raised to the present system. Recommendations were received from the finance committee to the cffect that when a referee fails to officiate at a match for which he has been appointed, and through this cause the match has to be abandoned, the onus of paying the expenses and the ground fees will fall 011 the Referees' Association; also, that teams defaulting after publication of fixtures will be required to pay the ground and referee's expenses. Both recommendations were approved.

The minor division committee intimated its intention to hold the annual prize-giving night of primary and secondary schools and lower grades from third intermediate down to seventh, on October 24, at 7.30 p.m., in the Y.M.C.A.

The /allowing matches will be played on Saturday:—

Third Grade Final—New Lynn v. Kiwi, Blandford Park, 3 p.m., Mr. L J Check.

Fourth Grade Championship Final.— Comrades v. Glen Eden, Blandford Park 2 p.m., Mr. A. J. Gaily.
