'LOOKING FOR JOY-RIDES'
"FLAPPERS" AND TAXI-CABS. MOUNT ALBERT SUSPICIOUS. "KEEP AN EYE ON THEM." Brightly-lit streets only are suitable for taxi-cab stands, according to members of the Mount Albert Borough Council. When a letter was received from a taxi-cab company, asking that its stand be shifted from Kingsland to Salisbury Road, Mr. A. A. Buckley rose to oppose it. The Mayor suggested that the short end of Onslow Road would be a good position. The council should not hinder taxis from plying in the district, he thought, as they were a great convenience.
"I would oppose a stand in Onslow Road," affirmed . Mr. Buckley. "There are not enough lights there." The request, together with a similar one from another company, was referred to the joint committee for an inspection of the proposed s site -of/the. standi
