MOUNT ALBERT'S WATER.

COMPLAINT OF HIGH CHARGES " METERS BEING PROPERLY READ." Various ' complaints from ratepayers regarding what were considered excessive accounts for water were presented to the Mount Albert Borough Council last night by Mr. B. Brigham. On his motion, the question was referred to the Water and Fire Brigade Committee, with which the other members of the council will bo associated for this question. The Mayor, Mr. L. E. Rhodes, suggested that in many cases the excessive amount of water registered was the result of leaks between the meters and the house services, especially in hot water services. According to Mr. W. G. Russell, the apparent increase in the amount of water consumed showed that for the first time in many years the meters were being properly read. Previously "fako" figures had on many occasions been handed in. In support of his original motion, Mr. Brigham said that the best solution of the difficulty would be to employ a man whose sole duty would be to read and check the meters and 1 keep them in repair. At present no one seemed willing to accept the responsibility of the meter service.
