The Paper With The Popular Appeal,
Covering a wide field of subjects, the attractive illustrations in this week's issue of the "New Zealand Sporting and Dramatic Review" are reproduced in that biilliant style that one always associates with this publication. The coloured section has some really charming illustrations equal to any produced in any part of the world, a piquant frontispiece of dainty Dorothy Gulliver, a series of ultra-modern bathing suits, some quaint animal studies and flower picking in the South of France. The spring meeting of the Waikato Trotting Club at Claudelands is ably depicted in a vivid set of photographs and racinsr has a further showing of photographs of the spring meeting of the Auckland Racing Club. The centre pages represent current events in England, South Africa v. England cricket Test, King's welcome at Sandringhani, grouse shooting and army manoeuvres at Aldershot. League enthusiasts will be pleased with the space devoted to the Marist v. South Sydney match at Carlaw Park, and other sporting fixtures illustrated are the Rotorua High School's annual steeplechase and the athletic meeting at Dunedin. Full of the spirit of speed is an animated page of views of tine world's fastest flying machines practising at Calsliot, and another of speed boat racing. Ainerican fads and fancies make a page of snappy items and of a different character is a page of beautiful photographs of the Masterton amateurs' production of "Katinka." Other photographs are sun bathing, hunting in France, mill girl mannequin parades, Baptist annual assembly, staff of Auckland City Council, etc. Full particulars appear in this issue of the free skill competition with the generous prize of £250.
