LABOURER FALLS 30FT.
ESCAPES WITHFRACTURED HEEL,
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) ■WHANGAREI, this day. To slip and somersault through the air 30 feet to the- hold below, and escape alive, was the experience of William Dobs'on, aged 41, >a labourer, at Portland. I He was loading cement on the steamer Waipahi, and when about to place his foot on the first rung of the, ladder into the hold he slipped. He clutched at the wall without catching anything substan- ! tial, and fell. There was a loud thud, and Dobson's workmates went to his assistance. He was taken to the hospital, where he was found to have a fracture of his .left heel, an uncommon injury. ' His side is also much bruised, but he is making good' progress.
