COMPULSORY MILITARY TRAINING.
It is typical of tie ossified mental attitude of many advocates of militarism, with -its absence of any idea of settling an argument}, other than by cracking an adversary's skull, that "Ex-Colonial Private" should label, those opposed to such unintelligent and semi-civilieed; methods as "old Avomen." The truth is that,! the citizen who works for peace of ten has mora real courage than all these fire-eating zealots. It is obvious that to your correspondent. nothing is "plain common sense" that ruis. counter to his own half-baked ideas.'. It is :a sample of your correspondent's strange reasoning processes that he terms a question of mine "colossal ignorance." Would it not be better to answer it, or does the militarist disapprove of questions as savouring too much of arbi« tration? . . A.E.C. v "D.C.M." writes a long letter in ■ reply'to ; "A.E.C.," Avhoni he condemns for "gibing" at' ono who is passing through the training period and has the courage to state his side" of the • case.
