PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD.
. The Papakura Town Board met last evening, the chairman (Mr. Jas. McCall) presiding. Drivers' Licenses.—The board " decided to forward a protest to the Minister in charge of traffic protesting against the proposed new bill in which the Post Office officials are to issue drivers' licenses and heavy traffic licenses in lieu of local bodies. Collections of Refuse—The inspector of health for the district (Mr. T. C. Thompson) forwarded a report and recommendation of a scheme for the collection of refuse and in the interests of health. The report dealt fully with a scheme which divided the town into areas and showed how it could be fully dealt with. It was proposed to hire a lorry to collect, tins, etc., to circularise householders with information of collections, arid supply information regarding the mosquito pest. The board decided to adopt the report and get the scheme working immediately. The foreman was given power to have all ponds> and breeding places for mosquitoes cleaned up. .Stock Route. —Following upon a recommendation from the Works Committee's report, the board decided to send a communication to the Manukau County Council requesting co-operation in the estab- , Hshment of the Old Wairoa , Road as a stock route in lieu of the Clevedon main highway.
