THE NEW BUICK.

MODELS FOB 1930.

GREATER POWER PROMISED.

, Greater power, longer wheelbases, lower, longer and more attractive bodies, together with innumerable mechanical improvements, are some of the features promised in the 1930 Buick line, which are now selling throughout New Zealand.

Additional power has been built into the Buick by increasing the bore on all models. This produces in the overhead six engine an eight per cent increase in power. In addition to longer wheelbases, all .models have been lowered about two inches, giving long, low lines.

Mechanically, it is claimed that the new Buick embodies every fine improvement that has been. developed in the motor industry. The performance of the car, its acceleration, hill climbing, power, and ' road speed, have been proved throughout months of. testing. The. hill climbing ability,, of all models proved about equal in power.

There is a marked increase in fuel economy,, which is. due to a better balance between the engine power and car weight. The carburetion system embodies two major improvements—the petrol pump has been redesigned and improved, and the low speed carburettor adjustment has been eliminated. The Buick multiple disc type clutch is used on all models, and has been increased to such an extent that it is ample to absorb the increased engine power in a smooth and positive way.

Transmissions for all models'have a sufficient factor of safety to handle the increased engine power. The constant mesh gears, have been changed from a seven to an,eight pitch, which gives a quiet and! smooth drive in second gear.
