CITY SENSATION.
WELL-KNOWN DOCTOR'S ARREST. DR. E. S. SHARE CHARGED. ALLEGED INDECENT ASSAULT. REMANDED OX £500 BAIL. A sensation was caused in the city just before noon to-day when Dr. B. S. Share, the well-known Indian medical practitioner, who has practised in Auckland for many years, was arrested at his surgery, by Detective-Sergeant P. J. Doyle and Detective T. Kelly 011 a serious charge. After the warrant of arrest, only issued by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., this morning, had been read to Dr. Share, ho drove the two detectives to the Police Court in his own motor car. Brought before Mr. P. K. Hunt, aceuscd, who was placed in the dock, was charged with indecently assaulting a young woman, aged 23, at Auckland on September 26 last. Accused made no reply to the charge. Chief Detective Hammond asked for a remand until October 21. "Do you want bail?" asked Mr. Hunt. "Yes, please," said accused. Mr. Hunt: Very well, bail in the sum of £500 or two sureties of £250 each. It is stated that about a fortnight ago a young woman made complaint to the police with the result that a search warrant was obtained. It is further alleged that the police are in possession of certain photographs which will figure prominently at a later stage.
