COLLEGE ATHLETES.

SECONDARY SCHOOLS' TOURNEY. KING'S COLrLSGE RETAIN TITLE. GRAMMAR JUNIORS' WIN. A good track made fast times at the Auckland secondary schools' athletic sports meeting at the Domain on Saturday. As it was only the second tournament of its kind held in Auckland none of the times could be hailed as records, but the majority of them were a lot better than last year's figures. The one disappointing feature was the poor attendance of the public, the meeting being run at a loss. It was fitting that the struggle for the senior honours should be fought out between King's College, last year's winners, and Auckland Grammar School, these 1 being Auckland's oluest secondary school rivals. It was not until the last event that King's gained the points which allowed them to retain the title. In the junior championship Auckland Grammar scored a runaway win, finishing thirty-three points ahead of Mount Albert Grammar. The struggle between King's College and Auckland Grammar School for the senior honours supplied much of the excitement of the meeting and there was wild cheering when the issue was at last decided. With half the events run off King's were in front, but Grammar then scored a run of successes which put them two points in the lead with only the relay race remaining. In this, however, the maroons showed easily the better form and a win gave an additional ten points and the championship. The points scored by the senior teams were as follows: —King's College, 29; Auckland Grammar, 23; Mount Albert Grammar, 20; Takapuna Grammar, 15; Sacred Heart College, 2; Seddon Technical College, 1; St. Stephen's School, 0. In the junior championship Auckland Grammar fielded a team that was much superior to the opposition and wins in the 100 yds, 220 yds and 880 yds early gave the dark blues a commanding lead. The final points in this section were:— Auckland Grammar, 47; Mount Albert Grammar 14, King's College, 12; Sacred Heart, 7; Takapuna Grammar, 1; Technical College, 0; St. Stephen's School, 0. The junior honours last year were annexed by Mount Albert Grammar. Musical items by the Blind Institute's band were much appreciated.
