MANUREWA CLUB.

The Manurewa Bowling Club's lawns 7,-ere en fete on Saturday, when the official opening of the season was held. A pleasing feature was the large number of visitors from surrounding clubs, these including Edendale, Dominion Koad, Patumahoe, Rawhiti, Clevedon, Otahuhu, Te Papapa, Papatoetoe and Pukekohe. A cordial welcome was extended to all present by the president, Mr. C. Hawthorne, who expressed gratification at the general progress of the club, both financially and in membership. Representatives from the Auckland Centre were Messrs. W. J. Hardley and Clark, and a few appropriate remarks were contributed by the former. Mrs. Hawthorne then threw the "jack," and the greens were declared open. The general condition of the lawns and grounds was favourably commented upon.
