BOXING.

DONOVAN BEATS GRIFFITHS. T.K.O. IN TWELFTH ROUND. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Sunday. In a boxing contest yesterday scheduled for 15 rounds, Tommy Donovan (Waitara) defeated Tommy Griffiths (Duuedin) by a technical knock-out in the twelfth round. Both men scaled 8.13. It was an extremely willing contest, in which Griffiths, by his cleverness in the earlier rounds, saved himself much punishment, but Donovan was always predominant. Griffiths was twice down in the tenth round. The end came in the twelfth round when Donovan ripped a right to the body and right crossed to the heart. Griffiths went down for a count of nine. He rose and Donovan rushed him to the ropes and crashed three rights into his jaw. Griffiths was knocked out, but remained erect by hanging on to the ropes. The referee stopped the contest.
