Y.W.C.A. NEWS.

The monthly meeting of the board of directors of the Y.W.C.A. was held oil Friday morning, Mrs. J. A. Bradstreet presiding. Mrs. J. C. Dickinson was congratulated 011 her appointment as vicepresident of the Y.W.C.A. of New Zealand. Arrangements were made for the visit of Miss Ethel Law, national general secretary, who will visit Auckland shortly. A board retreat and committee conference will be held at the holiday house, Blockhouse Bay, when the general business of the association will be discussed. A report was received from the president of the club's council, Miss P. Wood, in which she stated that the various clubs had undertaken to redecorate several of the club rooms. The girls had raised the money to buy the materials and would do the work themselves. A special elTort was being made io beautify the prayer room. Miss Bent-ham reported that the clubs and classes were being well maintained. A most successful club officers' week-end had been held at the holiday house. During the month several cases of distress had been dealt with. The Tres Bon Club was now giving entertainments at the various charitable institutions. The girls of the Auckland Girls' Athletic Association were practising hard for their annual sports day on November 2. Miss McCrea announced that an operetta would be given by the girl citizens earlv next month.
