CROQUET CLUBS.
CARLTON. The Carlton Club's pavilion was bedecked with streamers, pennants, and decorations in the club's colours, black and gold, oil Saturday afternoon, when Mrs. R. J. Hamilton, president, formally opened the season, and welcomed tlie guests. She wore a navy blue and lemon frock, with lieige hat. Amongst those present were: Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Cotterill (vice-presidents), Mrs. Perry (secretary), Mrs. Wilson (treasurer), and the conmiittce, Mrs. Davy, Mrs. Aicken, Mrs. Lawrie, Mrs. Jennings. EPSOM. The Epsom Club held their opening day on Saturday. The tea tables and pavilion were prettily decorated with Iceland poppies, the colour scheme being carried out in the club's colours, green and gold. Mrs. Rogers, the president, played the first ball, and declared the season open. Progressive croquet was then played. Among those present were: Mrs. Rogers, wearing a frock of Alice blue crepe de chine, with Oriental embroideries; Mrs. Blakey, dark grej costume, worked in Egyptian trimming; Mesdames McGregor, Penn, Walker, Jones, T. Chapman, Jenkin, Mtrrison, George, Taylor, Huddleston, Malcolm, A. Jones, Edlands. Daniels, Swales, Aldridge, Bronghton, Clark, Townsend, Mcllrov, J. Chapman, Wilson (Hokitika), Grimwood (West Coast); Kingdon, Henderson, Parker, Hill, Broad, Ramsay, Gladding, Kendall, Neilson, Wallace, Lamb, Webber, Johnston, Collings } Hinton, De Launay, Isemonger, Darrow, Hooton, Misses Bailey (W estport), Waddingham, Simms. ONEHUNGA. The Oneliunga Bowling and Croquet Clubs opened their season on Saturday afternoon. Mr. Robert Buchanan, the president, and Mrs. Buchanan, the latter in a beautiful black and gold flowered satin, with hat to tone, were the host and hostess, and extended a hearty welcome to the large number of guests. Mrs. Buchanan was presented with a shower bouquet of pink roses and sweet peas. The tea tables aud pavilion were arranged in the club's colours, cornflowers and crimson ancnomes taking pride of place in fancy shaped silver baskets. The Oneliunga band was in attendance. Mr. R. Buchanan also spoke. Mrs. A. Kenny, the president, wore a tan pleated crepe fleuri; Mrs. A. Brown, president, navy blue suit; Mrs. J. Gill, vice-president, brocaded satin, blue hat; Mrs. J- B. Crawford (secretary), navy blue figured satin. The committee were, Mrs. W. Wallace, black and biscuit souple satin; Mrs. A. Craig, fawn jersey suit, red hat; Mrs. T. George, navy and jiink floral ninon, pink hat; Mrs. F. Patterson (treasurer), navy blue and fawn ensemble; Mrs. A. Robertson, saxe blue flowered silk, cream hat; Mrs. Parr, grey crepe de chine, black hat.
