BIRKDALE QUEEN.

The dancc room was decorated in red. the colours of the Birkdalc Queen, Miss Dot Casey, when a children's fancy dress dance was held in the Beachhaven Cabaret on Saturday night. The judges were Mesdames Boatwood, Kay and Blanchard. Miss Casey, in a frock of apple green silk lace, presented the prizes to the following:—Audrey Pilclier, Red Cross Xurse, Edward O'Mara, fireman; Wallace Stenberg, rooster; Mary Mayall, Poppy Day; Patty Purchase, sunflower; and Mary Laurie, pirate. Among those present were: Miss B. Stayte, green crepe de chine; Mrs. J. Clark, black velvet; Miss P. Le Clere, turquoise satin, with lemon georgette and shawl; Mrs. W. Casey, black silk; Mrs. Boatwood, black lace over flame satin; Miss G. Cook, blue crepe de chine and gold lace; Miss Violet Thorburn, blue crepe de chine; Miss M. Masters, black velvet : Mrs. E. Dennison. satin u.yon; Mrs.'Bone., fawn crepe de chine and lace; Mrs. Stevenson, floral crepe de chine and lace; Mrs. L. 'W. Wright, black" georgette.
