COMBINE HARVESTERS

Importance Of Manufacture In Canada. OUSTING U.S. PRODUCT. (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) {Received 9.30 a.m.) '. . .... TORONTO, October 11. The decision to manufacture combine harvesters in. Canada is held to be 01 the utmost importance to that country in view'of the heavy imports of combine harvesters from the United States at the present time, amounting in value to more than £8,000,000. The combine machine is regarded as an economical necessity for the large grain farmer in the west, and as the United States' product has to face a ten per cent tariff, the new company should, it is said, find a ready sale for its produce. Moreover, in. addition to sales in Canada,- the new firm will handle the export business to the United States' which imposes no tariff and to South America, where the market is large. It is thought that the removal, of export factories from Australia to Canada will aid' the meeting of competition in these markets, both of which are also important.
