EVIDENCE IN COURT. Statement Of Town Clerk Of Wakefield. DEFENDANTS REMANDED. (Australian Press Assn. —Dnitefl riervice.) (Received 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, October 11. Clarence Hatry and his co-defend-ants were remanded till October 14. Bail was refused. Abram Allibone, town clerk of Wakefield, gave evidence that the corporation issued the Wakefield loan of £750,000 in January. John G. Dixon, one of the directors of Hatry. companies, decided that £50,000 would be remitted in March and . £100,000 at the end of August. Wakefield only received £100,000 and Dixon promised, to remit £200,000 early in September and to invest the balance, but failed. Albert Cutterbuck, city treasurer of Gloucester, gave evidence that the corporation issued in January a £500,000 loan on behalf of Gloucester, which was to receive the money in instalments but not to pay expenses of the issue. ' The city by August had received only £250,000. Applications for registration of scrip amounted to £750,000.
