MATIERE HALL BURNED.
ROLL OF HONOUR LOST. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) MATIERK, this day. The Matiere Hall and picture theatre was destroyed by fire at a'ri early hour this morning. Nothing was saved. A handsome roll of honour, erected by the subscriptions of the people of the district, was .lost. A children's fancy dress ball was held in the hall Inst evening. A bucket brigade was formed, and through its efforts the Post Office building was saved. The night whs calm, or further damage would have been done. The hall was insured for £200 in the State office, and the cinema plant for £2.j0 in the Victoria office.
