HEALTH BY-LAWS.

a MUST BE OBSERVED." GORDONTON MAN FINED. (#y Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) MORRINSVILLE, Friday. "By-laws for the public health must be observed," said Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M.. in the Police Court when James Bowers, of Gordonton, was charged with failing to connect premises owned by him. within the sewerage area in Morrinsville with the system, and with failing- to provide suitable and sufficient drains to carry away the sewage. The magistrate said Bowers had been guilty of a serious breach of an important by-law which affected the public health. He had made a promise to do the work, but this promise had not been carried out. His interest in the proceedings wag only sufficient, apparently, to give a solicitor fragmentary details of the position at the eleventh hour. A fine of £ 5, and costs £ 1 18/, was imposed on the first charge, and defendant, was ordered to pay £1 13/ costs on the second charge.
