SUMMER TIME.
HALF AN HOUR ON. ALTER; -CLOCKS; TO-NIGHT. OFFICIAL CHANGE AT 2 A.M. WARNING TO TRAVELLERS. All domestic clocks should be put forward half an hour to-night (Saturday). Summer time will come into operation officially at 2 a.m. to-morrow and in the case of Government Departments and the Auckland City Council, this will be followed strictly. As soon as two o'clock strikes, the hands of the clock will describe a quick semi-circle and point to the half-hour. • Trams, trains, buses, ferries and churches will observe the change tomorrow, so that the best tip to householders is to pxit the clock forward before they go to bed to-night. If this duty is forgotten, it is likely -that many will find themselves strolling casually into church when the preacher is about to begin his sermon. Those who have planned Sunday excursions will need to have their -watches-and clocks synchronised with the official time, for if they fail they will find that trains, buses and ferries have long gone. All train services in the Auckland district, will conform to summer time, and no exceptions will be made sis was the case last year, to suit the convenience of isolated groups of dairy farmers. Radio fans will need to remember that as New Zealand time is one and a half hours ahead of Australian time, the advancement of the clock will increase the margin to two hours. People who read calendars setting out the hours of the sun, moon and tides, standard time, will need to add half an hour to their calculations. On the morning of Sunday, March 16, 1930, at 2 o'clock, all elocks will be put back half an hour, so that the Dominion will have the benefit of' daylight saving for five and a half months.' The Summer Time Act now. makes daylight saving a permanent institution.
