COMBINED POWER BOARD.
(By Telegraph. —Own Correspondent.) WHANGAKEI, this day. Although only 700 were required, 825 signatures have already been secured in Whangarei County for the petition for the creation of a combined Power Board District. Two ridings have not yet completed their returns. At a meeting of the County Council to-day the forwarding of the petition was decided upon. The chairman suggested that efforts be made to dispose with an election for five members to represent Whangarei on the board. If the necessary number of nominations were received, and no more, the county would be saved £120 in costs.
