WAVING CORN'S SHORTS. Beauty Light Scores In Hurdles. A Course Record Established. Kaikorai Handicap To Sailing Home. (By. Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") DUNEDIN, this day.. The Dunedin Jockey Club's spring meeting, which opened at Wingatui on Thursday, is concluding in overcast weather before a large attendance. The track is in perfect order, despite over 1 : night rain. 1 Eangatalii was favourite for the ! Wakari Hurdles, but, after being proini- '• nent for a mile, he faded out- Taramoa : took the lead at the start, arid seemed to . have the race in hand in the straight, but . the rider (G. Dempster) took matters too easily, and Beauty Light snatched a win in the last couple of strides. Gu\> case was close up, after being handy all the way. Antrim Boy jumped patqliily, and fell at the second to last hurdle. ( Town Major was easily better backed than Tenibroney for the Kaikorai Handicap. Royal Flower was smartest out, but at the end of a furlong Some TotF and Fallow took charge, Salnio Salar joining in at the far turn, with Topere and Tenibroney handy. The lastnamed pair were in front at the distance, but Sailing Home finished well, beating Topere by a neck, with Tenibroney another neck away, third. Some Toff, Crossbow, and Town Major were next.
