FIRE IN HAMILTON.

COSTUMIER'S SHOP GUTTED

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)

HAMILTON, this day.

' Just before midnight the fire brigade made a good save at Glencoe House (ladies' costumiers) in Victoria Street, occupied by Miss Isabella Turner and owned by "the Ridel Milking Machine Company! The fire originated in the middle of three rooms, where shelves 'laden with valuable soft goods were placed. An electric hat blocker had been left with the current on and the heat caused the bench to ignite. The middle room was a mass of flames when the brigade arrived and difficulty was found in entrance. What stock was not burned was ruined by smoke and water. The insurance on the stock is not extensive and Miss Turner is a heavy loser. Costumes valued at £200 and other goods valued at about the same figure were destroyed.
