MOUNT EDEN ROBBERY.

VICAR'S STUDY RANSACKED. While the Rev. E. E. Bamford was attending the Anglican Synod, a thief visited St. Barnabae , vicarage, Bellvue Road, Mount Eden, yesterday afternoon, thoroughly ransacked the study, stole about £2*o in cash and departed. The discovery that there had been an uninvited visitor to the vicarage was made by Mrs. Bamford late in the afternoon. She was only absent for half an hour. Evidently the intruder heard her returning and made a hurried getaway, for a considerable sum of church money was left behind. A side window was found open, and through it the intruder evidently got away. It is'thought that the thief had a good knowledge of the- vicar's movements, and apparently had also chosen a time when Mrs. Bamford was temporarily absent. The vicar is a heavy loser.
