OBITUARY.

MRS. G. G. SPINK. . The death occurred on Saturday last at her home in Warneck Street, Westmere Estate, of Mrs. Spink, wife of Mr. G. G. Spink, of the Auckland Tramways staff. The deceased, who had suffered a long illness, leaves a family of 'three young children. Born at Forfar, Scotland in 1888, she came to. New Zealand six years ago. The funeral took place at Waikume'te, services at 'the home and graveside being conducted by the> Rev. Angus Mac Donald. MR. P. C. R. PURCELL. The first meeting of the Waikato hounds, fixed for to-day, was cancelled on account of the death at Tauranga of Mr. Peter Cyril Raymond Purcell, presidenit of the Bay of Plenty Hunt Club. Mr. Purcell was born in Auckland 44 _ years ago, being the eldest son of Mr, P. F. Purcell. Six years ago deceased went to Opotiki, and was in charge of the Masonic Hotel. Last January he took over the Star Hotel at Tauranga. Mr, Purcell had three years' service at the front during the Great War, being at GalMpoli and also in Flanders. His brother, Mr. Arthur Robert Purcell was killed at Passchendaele. Mrs., Purcell survives her husband. There is one son nine years of age. MRS. S. J. ADAMS. At the age of 76 years, Mrs Sarah Jane Adams died at Onehunga, where she had lived for over half a century. Born in County Antrim, Ireland, she came to Auckland with her husband in 1875 by the ship Baron Aberdaire. Mr. Adams survives his wife. There are the following children: Mesdames T. Barr, J. Mason, H. Stoupe, Misses E. and M. Adams, Messrs. F. Adams and Leslie Adams. The interment was at Hillsboro' Cemetery. During her residence in Onehunga' of over half a century Mrs. Adams was a prominent member of the Presbyterian Church, and being of a cheerful and kindly disposition, she was greatly esteemed by all who knew her. MR. J. A. HURLEY. A former Government bacteriologist, Mr. John Alexander Hurley, died at his home, Rongotai. He was ran unmarried man. Mr. Hurley, in his early days, was a medical student at Dunedin, but did not complete his course. He had special knowledge in bacteriological and pathological work, and joined the Health Department in 1903 as a sanitary inspector. In 1905 Mr. Hurley was appointed as an assistant at the bacteriological laboratory, Wellington, and in 1910 became Government bacteriologist, a position ho held until his retirement on superannuation in June, 1925, Mr. Hurley was for many years director of the Government vaccine station.
