SUCCESS OF COMPETITION. ST. MICHAEL'S PARISH CHURCH Setting out with the object of raising £1000 for the erection of a new church, the ladies' committee of St. Michael's Roman Catholic parish, Remuera, who organised a popular girl competition to that end, -had the eminent satisfaction not only of attaining their goal, but of raising a sum far beyond anything they had ever expected. At a special concert, in the Newmarket Municipal Hall, arranged to bring the affair to a close, Father Bradney announced that the efforts of the three committees for the three contestants had realised the sum of £1740. Miss Elva McDonald was a popular winner with 70,467 votes, which were responsible for the sum of £833 13/4, while Misses Rewa Henley, with 45,325 votes, and Kathleen O'Leary, with 34,703 votes, were second and third. Between them they raised £906 S/3. In giving each competitor a souvenir, Father Bradney congratulated them, and expressed his appreciation of the way in which the committees had worked. ST. BENEDICT'S CHOIR. St. Bendict's choir visited the Church of the Assumption at Onehunga last evening, and under the direction" of the conductor, Signor Costantini, gave a programme of beautiful musical items.
