POTATOES STILL WOBBLY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. The potato market continues to change in a manner that is perplexing even the trade itself. On Friday, September deliveries were reported at £6 5/, f.0.b., B.J. On Saturday an advance commenced, and yesterday afternoon sales were made at £7 15/ to £7 17/6. This morning, however, the pendulum started its backward swing, and this afternoon £7 5/ to £7 7/6 was ruling, with buyers scarcely operating at the higher figure. The sharp swing upward was a speculative movement without any apparent reason to justify, it. The Kurow sailed last night, and including the Katoa s consignment- last week the- two vessels took between 5000 and 6000 sacks from Timaru and Lyttelton. The Waipiata sails to-night and the Wingatui next Tuesday. There is no change in the quotations of other products. A grade Garton oats are worth 3/9 to 3/10, and B grade to 3/8, f.0.b., s.i.
