TTJRF WICKETS SECURED. THE ASSOCIATION'S OFFICERS. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") WHANGAREI, this day. All clubs -were represented at the annual meeting of the Whangarei Cricket Association last evening. The president, in his report, referred to the fact that after many years Whangarei had now provided a home for cricket in that a lease of ten acres of reclamation in the bay had been secured from the Harbour Board. The whole area had been cleared, drained, disced and grassed at an expenditure of £297, and it is anticipated turf wickets will be ready for the commencement of the season on October 12. The election of officers resulted: Patron, Mr. A. J. Murdoch; president, Mr. E. T. Gash; vice-presidents, Messrs. E. Richard, B. Flewellyn, A. Drover, G. W. Bennett, D. W. Nelson, C. E. Nicholson, H. W. Crawford, R. G. Hosking and C. F. Collins; secretary and treasurer, Mr. R. E. Danes; assistant-secretary, Mr. E. G. Dunn; auditor, Mr. R. R. Roseman; grounds committee, Messrs. E. L. Whimp, A. Drever, R. Jennings, B. Flewellyn and W. G. Grove. After some discussion as to whether tho association should adhere to a sole selector, Mr. B. Flewellyn was reappointed to the position. . Messrs. A. Drover and B. Flewellyn were appointed delegates to the North Auckland Association. A gold medal, donated by the retiring president for the player making most catches in the season, was presented to Mr. E. Gash. •
