OIL DEVELOPMENT.
It is difficult to comprehend on what specific ground Dr. Bossard makes the assertion that the Omata field can "be considered, an established oilfield." He somewhat qualifies this remark by stating that the oil "seems" to be concentrated in several independent layers. The writer's perspective of an established oilfield is a field from which payable oil is being won, a stage which might never be reached on the Omata areas. Other geologists, including Dr. Jensen, have not been so sanguine over the Omata areas, and they had an_ equal opportunity of making a full investigation. PETROLEUM.
